Chile's data protection law takes effect on December 1, 2026
From that date, every business that manages a customer database becomes responsible for the processing of that data. Here's what the law brings — and how Isi helps.
- It creates the Personal Data Protection Agency (APDP), with the power to investigate and fine.
- Fines of up to 20,000 UTM; for repeat offenses by large companies, up to 2–4% of annual revenue.
- Small businesses get a cushion: in the first 12 months they may receive a written warning instead of a fine.
